Watch from safety
From behind glass, a closed door or another secure position, keep track of the last-known location.

Give the exact address, where the snake is now, who is nearby and whether a gate or building is locked.
Possible snakebite
Call 000 immediately.
Keep the person still. Apply pressure-immobilisation first aid if trained and follow the emergency operator’s instructions. Do not wash the bite, cut it, suck venom or use a tourniquet.
Inside a room
Move everyone out. Close the door only if it can be done without approaching the snake. Do not push towels under the door if that means returning to the danger area.
In the yard
Bring children and pets inside by a route that does not pass the snake. Stop mowing, trimming, pool work and deliveries nearby.
At work or school
Pause activity, create a broad exclusion zone and appoint one contact to meet the catcher. Avoid a crowd gathering for a look.
